Girls, I’m going to let you in on a something that apparently is a little secret. If you lift weights, you aren’t going to bulk! Unless you go ahead and take steroids along with testosterone boosters, then we’re on a different level because those along with weight training will definitely give a woman more of a man’s shape.
Seriously, if you’re just an average girl who is looking to lose weight, tone your body and look fit; weight training is your answer!
There are so many different ways to exercise, and they all have different benefits but the amount of the benefits which come from weight training are much greater than any other form of exercise. You don’t need to follow all the different fitness fads, or weight loss fads, weight training has been around for many years and there is a reason for that. It works.
I go into my gym all the time and see girls upon girls in the cardio section I walk through to get into the weight training area. Once I get there, I might, maybe see one girl, or two, who isn’t working with a personal trainer.
Girls, what’s up? Get on over in the weight training area. Don’t be scared. Just step on over there and show those guys that you want it, or have it, just as much as them!! Go get it!
I know it may seem scary at first, but once you get in there, keep focused on what you’re doing, don’t pay attention to anyone else, and get in your zone. I like to listen to music every time I workout in the gym. I put on my headphones and crank the music loud. This gets me going and pretty pumped to workout, especially when a good song comes on that you can “rep it out to the beat”. 😉
Fitness is all about facing your fears, you know, getting out of your comfort zone 😉 and many girls find the cardio area comforting. Make today the day to step it up and get over in the dumbbell zone.
Believe me, once you begin working out and you notice all these guys are talking about how you’re lifting heavier than their friends, and you’re a beast when you workout; this will boost motivation and only help get you back there for more. It’s super motivating when you are around others who are lifting too! I remember one time I was in a bulking phase and I was lifting 8 plates on each side of the leg press. (That’s 720lbs total!) I was pumped because it was my highest weight I had ever done, but after I left the gym I was told that there were a group of guys who were basically saying neither of them have ever lifted that heavy.
Made me smile. 🙂
And super proud of what I was able to accomplish.
It’s all about those small things.
But these small things are all what adds up and builds a huge foundation for motivation to continue working out. When I began working out, I was a huge cardio bunny. I lost about 15lbs from running, cycling and performing kickboxing HIIT and then after about 12 weeks, nothing was happening. My results began to dwindle and I knew if I didn’t change something that my body wouldn’t change either.
I then began weight training and haven’t looked back since. Weights have changed the look of my body so much more and I am so in love with it!
So you want to have a fit look, but scared of bulking…nonsense! Women don’t carry the hormonal support which is required to bulk big muscle. Our bodies aren’t designed to blow up like the incredible hulk.
As I mentioned before, unless you’re taking a steroid or test booster, and purposely changing your hormones; you aren’t going to get bulky.
But what will happen is…..
All of those are amazing reasons to weight train. You aren’t going to get toned or looking younger by doing endless amounts of cardio, or yoga, or running. All of those are excellent forms of exercise but they do not provide the same benefits as weight training do.
The best thing you can do for your body, health and mind is to engage in weight training on a regular basis. Watch your body change, feel your health improve and improve your daily mood.
Weights create you.
They shape you.
They tighten you.
They tone you.
They make you.
